The Y's afterschool programs foster each child's cognitive, social-emotional and physical development through opportunities and experiences that focus on achievement, relationships and belonging. Each activity is offered in a safe environment consistent with evidence-based principles of youth development: each child is encouraged to develop at their own unique rate by encouraging skill development and frequent leadership opportunities.

Families are viewed as partners with the Y and are provided opportunities to work, play, learn and grow together as a family unit. We collaborate with other organizations that are committed to serving the needs of all children and families. Thanks to these collaborations, the Y delivers consistent quality programs.

The Y's Before & After School program offers high-quality care right at your student's school. We're currently serving the Des Moines Public Schools at Findley Elementary, and Waukee Community School District at Brookview, Eason and Waukee Elementary schools.
