At the Y, we're here every day to provide the resources our communities need to address the most pressing social issues. We work to make sure every child, family and community has what they need to learn, grow and thrive.
Volunteerism & Giving
Enhance your personal well-being and take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood.
Learn MoreAccess for All
As a nonprofit organization, the Y is committed to increasing access and opportunity for everyone in our community. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we’re able to provide financial assistance to those who may not otherwise be able to afford the full cost of programs or services.
Learn MoreSupportive Housing Campus
Our Supportive Housing Campus is a community solution to help eliminate homelessness by providing hope, dignity and support in the form of permanent supportive housing and wraparound services.
Learn MoreFatherhood Program
When fathers play an active role in their children’s lives, everyone benefits. This course teaches key principles of fatherhood, striving to foster and build up connections between fathers and their children and families.
Learn MoreSummer Learning Loss Prevention
Children from lower-income families often start school unprepared, and during the summer they fall further behind their peers – unless someone steps in to help. Summer learning loss prevention programs at the Y provide instruction in basic skills while enhancing kids’ physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.
Learn MoreDrowning Prevention
By providing children with knowledge and skills attained through swim lessons and water safety programs, the Y is helping save lives and opening the door to a fun, healthy activity that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.
Learn MoreUnlocking Brain Fitness
You can reduce your risk of dementia by up to 70% and it is estimated that 40% of all community dementia is preventable. This program is a 10-week course focused on providing you with the tools and education to reduce your risk.
Learn MoreDr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast
Each year, on the federal holiday celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Y hosts a community Prayer Breakfast. More than 500 people from throughout central Iowa come together to listen, learn and commit to furthering the causes of racial, social and economic justice for which Dr. King fought, and ultimately gave his life. As part of the celebration, the Y presents the Make A Difference awards to individuals in our community who lead and inspire others in the important work of diversity, equity and inclusion.
